This year, I am so excited to be starting early with my team building and fund raising. ( I need to start early with my training walks too) We already have 7 people on our team and it is still February. Me(Kat), Scott, Melonie, Cherie and Debra, who have all walked in the 3-day together before. We also have 2 new walkers, Kimberly and Joanne(another Survivor). That is so encouraging to me. I know there are many others who will join us too but this is the official 2010 team so far. Last year we spent some time putting together the Double Bubble Breast cancer Bus. We had so much fun doing it and we had a lot of support from people in our community. We are very thankful for the great paint job that MAACCO here in Stockbridge did for us. It is really fun to drive it around and notice all of the stares and smiles. You can see people getting out their cameras and turning around to get a 2nd look. That is what it is about to me. Bringing awareness by doing something fun and getting attention, making it easier to talk about and not so scary looking. It wasn't so long ago that many women died because they were embarrassed to tell anyone about their fear of having breast cancer. Women are still dying today because they think that they are not at risk and so they ignore lumps like I did but some wait too late. That is why I named our pink VW bus the "Double Bubble Breast Cancer Bus". It does look like it could be a huge piece of bubble gum but that is not the bubbles we are talking about here, haha. We have some great ideas for fund raising this year. I am placing the t-shirt order real soon and I am sure they will be as cool as the ones we had last year. I was so excited that we sold 150 of them last year so we will order even more this year. Scott and I are having a brain storming meeting this weekend with some really great people who I have met this year who are doing some great things in the breast cancer world. They have really fun creative ideas for raising funds. We will let you know what ideas we come up with to make this year the best yet for our team "Kat's Courage". Thanks for your support. Love~ Kat
