Continuing the journey in His grip.......

After being diagnosed with invasive breast cancer on October 22, 2007, I realized that raising money for breast cancer makes me feel like I am doing something instead of feeling helpless against this disease. This diagnosis was a big shock to us. I was 40 years old, always very healthy and I had 2 small children(3&1). Breast cancer does NOT run in my family.
With a very supportive husband, family & friends, I made it through months of chemo and major surgeries. As of April 3,2008, by God's grace, I am cancer free!!!! I decided that I wanted to continue the fight against breast cancer by forming a team called ”Kat’s Courage” and raising money to help put an end to this disease. There were so many breast cancer survivor's who encouraged me during my fight. To see these women not only survive breast cancer but thrive after breast cancer, gave me this courage to face my fears. I can only hope to encourage others in the same way. We have just completed the 2010 Susan G. Komen 3-day for The Cure. We will continue to support different organizations that we believe in who are fighting against cancer and working for the cancer patient.

8 weeks until 60 miles

We have 60 days until we will be walking 60 miles for Susan G. Komen 3-day For The Cure.  I have 9 members on my team. The walk is 8 weeks away. We will do the walking but we need your support.  We have about $4,000 that we need to raise to meet our minimum fund raising goal so all of my team members can participate.
We still have quite a few XL team t-shirts and a few other sizes too, for a $20 donation.  Also we are raffling off a beautiful breast cancer quilt on October 1.  The tickets are $1 each or $5 for 6 tickets.  We have silicone bracelets,  "Kat's Courage" tote bags.  Breast cancer buttons and pins.  Let us know if you want us to send you something.  All money raised will go directly to Susan G. Komen 3-day For The Cure.  Click on the link and donate directly to any of my team members fund raising page.  We would love your support in any way.
I just had my 6 month check up with my Oncologist.  I got pretty anxious as my appointment got closer.  I guess that is just what happens as they move my appointments further apart.  It gives time for the fear to build up.  My Dr. thinks that I am doing very well and my chance of recurrance is very small.  That is great to hear but I am still constantly hearing of someone else being diagnosed or having a recurrence.  111 Women  and 1 man die each day in our country from breast cancer.  Help us to put an end to this disease that attacks 1 in 6 women in the US.
